Is there a free password manager for business?
Yes. BobWork Vault is free for businesses, and team sharing is included in the free plan. Plans differ between vendors, so check each one’s pricing page for what its free tier covers before you commit.
The test that matters for a company is simple: can you share logins with employees, limit what each person can do, and cut someone off cleanly when they leave, without paying first? If the answer is no, it is a personal password manager with a business label.
What should a free company password manager cover?
| Business need | Why it matters | BobWork Vault (free) |
|---|---|---|
| Share logins with employees | Stops passwords living in chat, email and spreadsheets | Per password or shared folder |
| Control access per person | Staff and contractors rarely need to see a password | Owner, Edit, View, Login only |
| Offboard leavers | Former staff keep access until passwords change | Guided offboarding + change checklist |
| Shared 2FA | One phone holding a company account’s codes is a single point of failure | TOTP codes stored with the login |
| Know who did what | Answer “who changed this?” without guessing | Audit log |
| Zero-knowledge security | The provider can’t read your passwords | Encrypted in the browser; server stores ciphertext only |
| Easy switch | You shouldn’t retype hundreds of logins | CSV import from Chrome, Zoho Vault, 1Password, Bitwarden, LastPass |
What isn’t included
So you can decide quickly: BobWork Vault has no mobile apps, no Firefox or Safari extension (the web vault works in both), no file attachments, no SSO or SCIM, no enforced password policy, no password-expiry reminders and no one-time share links for people outside your team.
How do you roll it out to employees?
- Start with the shared accounts that hurt most: email admin, domain, banking portals, ads, social and store logins.
- Create one shared folder per team or client and move those logins in.
- Invite employees by email and give each the lowest access level that lets them work, often Login only.
- Ask staff to stop sending passwords in chat and to save new logins with the extension’s save prompt.
- Write it into your password policy and your offboarding checklist.
What if the company needs to recover an employee’s vault?
By default nobody, including BobWork, can recover a forgotten master password, because the vault is zero-knowledge. Organisations can opt in to admin-assisted recovery, which members enrol in; everyone also gets an Emergency Kit at sign-up.

Questions
Is there a free password manager for business?
Yes. BobWork Vault is free for businesses, including team sharing, access levels, autofill, 2FA codes, offboarding and an audit log.
Is a free company password manager safe?
It is when it is zero-knowledge. BobWork Vault encrypts every item in the browser with AES-256-GCM and the server stores ciphertext only.
Can employees share a login without seeing the password?
Yes. Login only access lets the Chrome extension fill the password without showing or copying it.
Does BobWork Vault support SSO?
No. BobWork Vault does not offer SSO or SCIM; each person signs in with their own master password, and new devices also need an emailed code.
Can the company recover a lost master password?
Only if the organisation opts in to admin-assisted recovery and the member enrols. Otherwise nobody can recover it, by design.
